# Manage API keys

> Create admin API keys to manage your Fabric AI Gateway organization programmatically.

API keys let you do programmatically what you can do in the console. Teams that manage infrastructure as code, for example with Terraform, use them to automate their workflows instead of working in the UI. Fabric shows the value of each key once, when you create it. This topic shows you how to review and create API keys.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

* Access to a Fabric AI Gateway organization, with permission to manage API keys.
* A secure place to store each key, such as a secrets manager.

## Review API keys

To review your API keys, do the following:

1. In the sidebar, select **API keys** under **Admin**.
2. Review the **Active** list, which shows each key's **Name** and **Created** date.

If you haven't created a key, the list shows **No active API keys. Create one to get started.** To reload the list, select the refresh icon.

## Create an API key

To create an API key, do the following:

1. In the sidebar, select **API keys** under **Admin**.
2. Select **Create API key** at the top right of the page.

> **Warning**
>
> Store each key when you create it, because Fabric shows its value only once. Treat API keys as secrets. If a key leaks, remove it and create another.
