Manage namespaces
A namespace separates one team’s resources from another’s inside a single organization. Without namespaces, every connection, service, analytics chart, and trace in an organization appears together, which gets confusing when several teams share one tenant. This topic shows you how to create a namespace and switch between namespaces.
Understand namespaces
Each namespace isolates the following:
- Connections and services
- Analytics and traces
- Users and their roles
A user can be a Super admin in one namespace and a Member in another. This lets you limit who can change the configuration of production traffic, because configuration changes on the gateway can break production traffic.
Resources that don’t belong to a namespace appear in the namespace named Default.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- Access to a Fabric AI Gateway organization.
- Permission to update namespaces. You need it to see Namespaces under Admin.
Add a namespace
To add a namespace, do the following:
- In the sidebar, select Admin, and then select Namespaces.
- Select Create namespace.
- Enter a name, and then select Create namespace to save it.
The new namespace starts empty, with no connections, services, or traces. You can also select Create namespace in the namespace switcher.
Switch namespaces
To work in a different namespace, do the following:
- At the top of the sidebar, select the namespace name.
- In the Switch namespace menu, select a namespace.
The pages in the sidebar show only the resources in the namespace you selected.
Next steps
- To give people access, see Manage users and invitations.
